"Until now, Lahuis’s ‘steam works’ have exclusively used complete sentences; this time, he presents single words, in line with the specially designed containers that are made to reveal one word at a time. The title of the work continues his earlier installations, in which Hydrology is both the title and the central theme. Each new text becomes a variation on this theme, in the same way that every manifestation of water remains inseparably tied to the hydrological cycle. In this new installation, Lahuis makes words (verbs) appear in water vapor, each carrying a double meaning. On the one hand, the words describe water as a material in motion; on the other, they are used as metaphors for a mental or emotional state of being. They thus refer both to water itself—the very substance in which they become visible—and to the brain, establishing a direct connection to the title of the exhibition; Hippocampus." - Elders Collective
