The Dominican Thomas Aquinas is depicted in one of the windows of the Augustinian Church. Lennart Lahuis remembered that this medieval philosopher and theologian also wrote about physics. One of the texts he left behind is ‘Commentary on Aristotle’s Meteorology’. The book contains three expositions on wind. One of them contains his theory regarding the origin of wind currents, and one remark in that text can be summarized as ‘winds appear feeble where they arise but take on strength as they move along’.

This statement is reminiscent of the famous ‘butterfly effect’. Edward Lorenz used this image in 1972 during a lecture as an illustration of ‘Chaos Theory’. The flapping of a butterfly’s wings in Brazil can eventually cause a tornado in Texas, and the same can happen with ideas. In his installation in the Augustinian Church, these words briefly appear and disappear in water vapor. Through this installation, Lahuis weaves together the location, the themes of Anemochorie, and his work.
